Permanent Make-Up FAQ
What is permanent makeup?
Permanent makeup is a semi-permanent tattoo on the face designed to enhance the wearer’s natural features. It is applied by using needles of different sizes and shapes to deposit pigment into the dermal layer of the skin, below the epidermis but above the subcutaneous fat layer, the lowest layer of the skin.
Eyebrow powdering, permanent eyeliner, and lip tattooing are all performed using a round or flat needle and a rotary machine. Our machines are different from those that you might see in a body tattoo studio because they are much smaller and quieter, which allows the technician to be extremely detailed and precise. Feathering, or microblading, is a different method in which the technician uses a hand tool to etch individual lines into the skin, creating a softer look that mimics the appearance of real hair. Microblading has become increasingly popular because of its natural look which enhances the features and fills in the eyebrow without looking too harsh or artificial.
Which type of permanent makeup is right for you depends on your lifestyle and personal preferences. What is right for one person may not be right for someone else, which is why at Blossom we take great care to tailor our permanent makeup services to the personal wants and needs of each client. Every service includes a consultation where we listen carefully to the client to determine and map out exactly the desired result before beginning the procedure.
Is permanent makeup safe? What precautions do you use to protect your clients?
Permanent makeup is very safe when proper safety procedures are followed by both the technician and the client. At Blossom we take the health and safety of our clients very seriously.
To ensure our clients’ safety, any implements that come into direct contact with blood and bodily fluids such as needles, inks, containers, and applicators are 100% disposable and NEVER re-used. All of our needles come packaged in individual sterile pouches and are NEVER touched with bare hands. All re-usable tools, such as our tattoo machines, are wrapped in a disposable plastic sleeve during the service and disinfected using a medical-grade fungicidal, virucidal, and bactericidal solution immediately after each service.
For the safety of the client and technician, all technicians are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during the service and also during preparation and cleanup. This PPE includes disposable nitrile gloves which are always changed in between contact with a contaminated surface and the client, isolation gowns, face masks, and hair nets.
